A full flight simulator for the Bell/Agusta AB139 medium helicopter is to be launched in late 2006 by Rotorsim, the consortium owned jointly by CAE and Agusta.

The simulator, the first of its kind, will be added to Rotorsim's training centre in Sesto Calende, Italy. The AB139 simulator will join an A109 full mission simulator currently being manufactured by CAE.

Rotorsim says the facility will be used for both flight and maintenance training and will offer customers initial, conversion, recurrent and mission-specific training.

"Rotorsim will offer the most comprehensive training solutions available for operators of Agusta helicopter platforms," says Bruno Spagnolini, Rotorsim chairman and AgustaWestland marketing and sales director.

"The AB139 is enjoying tremendous market success so we're excited to offer our customers a world-class training service."
