RotorWay International, the world's largest helicopter kit manufacturer, is developing a certificated helicopter in South Africa.
Grant Norwitz, chief executive of the Chandler, Arizona-based company, says: "We see a large opening in the market for a larger two-seat 21st-century helicopter with a sensible price."
RotorWay has sold over 900 of its single-engine 162F kits. It says the new facility "offers a clear track to certification as South Africa subscribes to the European certification standards, which are a short step to US Federal Aviation Administration certification".
