China codeshare - Australia's Qantas Airways and China Eastern Airlines have signed a commercial agreement for a codesharing partnership. The carriers are to start sharing codes on flights between Australia and China sometime in the "middle of the year".

Fiji first - Ansett Australia is to open a new service linking Brisbane with Nadi in Fiji on 26 June. The service will be operated weekly and follows the November launch of Sydney-Nadi services.

JAL-American codeshare - American Airlines and Japan Airlines have started code-sharing on flights between and within their two countries. JAL says joint services will be expanded to cover 147 weekly flights before the end of this year.

SilkAir in India - SilkAir is launching services to Trivandrum in India from its Singapore base on 2 June. The twice-weekly service, its first to India, will be operated with Airbus A320s.

SAA partners Cathay - South African Airways (SAA) has signed a memorandum of understanding for a strategic partnership with Cathay Pacific Airways that is to include codesharing, linked frequent-fliyer programmes and joint ground handling.
