Vienna airport is not looking for new airport investment opportunities at present because it no longer sees a “buyer’s market” for these kinds of acquisitions, chief operating officer Julian Jager says.
Jager tells FlightGlobal that the Austrian gateway plans to focus on developing its own facilities and on those of Malta airport, in which it owns a 48% stake and at Slovakia's Kosice airport, in which it holds a 66% stake, for the time being due to a number of reasons.
“We have a lot to do in Vienna ourselves and international investments always take a lot of management attention" he says.
An additional factor in its decision Jager says is Vienna airport's experience from two unsuccessful bids to acquire stakes in St Petersburg Pulkovo airport and Athens airport during competitive tendering processes.
"We decided to concentrate on Vienna and our existing shareholdings and for the time being we don’t want to invest aboard,” he says.
