++ British Midland (BM) is planning to launch services between London Heathrow and Manchester in the UK, in direct competition with British Airways' 12 daily services. BM services are expected to begin in March 1998. ++ Sabena and TAP Air Portugal have signed a codesharing agreement, which will become effective in March 1998, on the route linking Lisbon and Brussels. Under the terms of the agreement, Sabena will increase its daily return flights to Lisbon from two to three, while TAP will add three weekly frequencies to the joint operation. ++ Armenian Airlines will inaugurate a weekly service from the capital Yerevan to London Gatwick on 10 December, using Ilyushin Il-86s. British Airways franchisee British Mediterranean recently launched twice-weekly services to the city, from London Heathrow, via Tiblisi.
