-The US Transportation Department has allowed seven weekly flights each to American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Continental Airlines for US-Tokyo services following the new US-Japan bilateral agreement. American will inaugurate its Chicago-Tokyo Narita service on 1 May, Delta is to start its new daily Atlanta-Tokyo service on 3 June, while Continental plans to offer services to Tokyo from Newark in November and from Houston in December.

-LOT Polish Airlines has started codesharing on American Airlines flights within the USA.

-BA franchisee GB Airways is taking on British Airways' London Gatwick to Lisbon service starting 29 March.

-Northwest Airlines Cargo has opened a service from the USA to Manila, in the Philippines, which variously visits New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Anchorage, Tokyo and Bangkok.

-Braathens SAFE will operate KLM's thrice daily service between Amsterdam and Stavanger using a Boeing 737.

-Lufthansa is to add Sarajevo in Bosnia Herzegovnia and Amman in Jordan to its route network from 29 March, served from Munich and Frankfurt respectively. It is also to offer a non-stop, four times a week Frankfurt-Houston service using an Airbus A340. It will discontinue its Tallinn (Estonia), Odessa (Ukraine) and Novosibirsk (Russia) services from Frankfurt, while launching a service from Munich to Kiev in Ukraine.

-Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is to offer Boeing 777 flights between Kuala Lumpur and Newark via Dubai from 13 April.

-Debonair will operate a Düsseldorf-Hamburg service from 15 April.

-US regional Comair has signed a codeshare agreement with Sabena to expand services to Brussels, Belgium, from seven US points from 5 April.

-Ryanair will launch scheduled services to six points in its summer schedule. New destinations from London Stansted include Venice, Pisa, Toulouse, Lyon, Rimini (Rome) and Malmo.
