++ Continental Airlines and VASP of Brazil will codeshare on flights between the USA and Brazil from mid-1998, pending Government approvals.

++ SAS Cargo is to introduce a DHL-owned McDonnell Douglas DC-8-70 freighter between New York and Gothenburg, Sweden, and will share an Antonov An-26 between Copenhagen and the Baltic states,

++ Air Zimbabwe is operating its Harare to London Gatwick service (Boeing 767-200ER) with a stop at Lilongwe, Malawi, once a week in conjunction with Air Malawi.

++ British Airways has started eight new direct services: they are to Doha in Qatar, Abidjan in Cote D'Ivoire, Vilnius in Lithuania, Ljubljana in Slovenia, Trieste in Italy, Cancun in Mexico, Tobago in the West Indies and Denver in the USA.

++ Lauda Air is to add Denpaser, Bali, to its route network. It will fly from Vienna via Bangkok once a week from 21 April.

++ Jersey European Airways will fly four times a day from Southampton to Guernsey in the Channel Islands from 18 May using a Fokker F27.

++ Manx Airlines is operating an Embraer RJ-145 belonging to sister airline British Regional Airlines on its weekend flights been Southampton and the Isle of Man.

++ London City Airport's plans to double aircraft movements have been approved. This will lead to several new destinations and various airlines are planning increased frequencies.

++ Cityjet will introduce services between Stockholm Arlanda and London City on 20 April using a BAe 146-200. The service will be operated as a codeshare with former shareholder Malmo Aviation. Cityjet is also flying between Strasbourg and London City with a newly delivered Saab 2000 on behalf of Regional Airlines, under a contract for Air France.

++ Finnair and Iberia have started co-operating on services from Helsinki to Madrid and Barcelona.

++ Delta Air Lines has inaugurated services to Guatemala City, Panama City, San Jose and Salvador.
