· Air Jamaica is launching nonstop services between Montego Bay and London on 1 June, using an Airbus A340-300 which is due for delivery soon.

· Samara Airport, Samara Airlines and Uzbekistan Khavo Yillury, the Uzbek flag carrier, have signed an agreement to market alternative air routes from central Russia to Asia. The first regular flight opened under the agreement connects Samara with New Delhi via Tashkent, so passengers from Samara do not need to go to Moscow first, saving 3h and almost $200. Evgeniy Churashov, Samara Airport commercial director, says the Samara-Beijing flight is being discussed. The partners of the new agreement intend to develop Samara into a hub for regional airlines.

· US Airways Express will expand its jet services from Raleigh/Durham from 7 April when it will begin serving Newburgh, New York, with two daily non-stop services using 50-seat Bombardier Canadair Regional Jets.

· Air Namibia will replace its Boeing 767-300ER with a larger Boeing 747SP on its services to London from 30 March, as it drops from three flights a week to a single service via Frankfurt. The airline plans to re-introduce a frequency of three flights a week to the UK from October, and aims to achieve four a week during 2000.

· Emerald Airways will suspend its twice daily Liverpool-Isle of Man services from 28 March, and Manx Airlines is responding by increasing its services between the two airports.

· Continental Airlines is aiming to launch daily services in July between New York Newark and Amsterdam, using a Boeing 777, subject to Dutch Government approval.

· World Airways is to begin operating weekly round-trip services between New York Kennedy and Barcelona on 23 May under a five month contract for Premier Cruises, using a Boeing MD-11.

· Suckling Airways will launch services from London City in April, with four daily flights to Dundee, using a Fairchild Dornier 328 turboprop.
