• British Airways is launching direct once-weekly services from London Gatwick to Havana, Cuba, i n April using Boeing 777s. From May, the airline's London-Baku service will continue on to Tashkent in Uzbekistan.

• Air Canada is launching daily services between Toronto and San Diego in June, and between Calgary and Chicago in May. Both flights will be operated using Airbus A319s.

• Air France has added Bordeaux to its domestic shuttle services from Paris Orly, which already serves Toulouse, Nice and Marseille. Services to Bordeaux will be operated 14 times daily.

• Delta Air Lines and China Southern Airlines began three-times-weekly codeshare services between Los Angeles and Guangzhou on 28 March, using a China Southern 777.

• Canadian Airlines has launched a daily service to Moscow, via London, in conjunction with oneworld partner BA. Canadian has also enhanced its codeshare with Japan Airlines, to enable flights between Vancouver and Tokyo to increase to four daily frequencies.

• Eastwind Airlines will inaugurate services to Miami on 15 April, using 737-700s, with nonstop and connecting flights from seven US east coast cities.

• Northwest Airlines will begin daily nonstop jet services between Detroit and Portland, Maine, in June, using McDonnell Douglas DC-9s and Northwest Airlink Avro RJ85s.

• US Airways will launch its new service between Charlotte and London Gatwick on 12 June, using 767s. Beginning early next year, the Airbus A330-300 will be introduced on its transatlantic routes. Meanwhile, additional transatlantic applications have been filed to operate between Pittsburg and Gatwick.

• Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and Uzbekistan Airways have signed a codeshare agreement covering Uzbekistan flights between Kuala Lumpur and Tashkent. MAS has also begun twice weekly flights between Kuala Lumpur and Manchester (via Munich) using 777s.
