Delta Connection carrier Trans States Airlines will introduce regional jet services between Boston and Philadelphia on 15 September with four daily Embraer RJ-145 flights, increasing to eight on 15 November. Jersey European Airways (JEA) will begin codesharing with Irish carrier CityJet on services between Dublin and London City from 1 September. Meanwhile, Aer Lingus is expected to launch services between Dublin and London City from the winter schedules using British Aerospace 146s, in direct competition with CityJet. The airline is also re-evaluating services to London Gatwick, which it abandoned several years ago. Continental Airlines is reducing its services between New York Newark and Santiago, Chile, from seven to four a week. The Ugandan Civil Aviation Authority has suspended commercial flights from Entebbe to areas in the eastern Congo controlled by rebels. Air Alexandra had been operating a wet-leased Boeing 707-300 between Entebbe and Kisangani. Northwest Airlines began demonstration flights using the new Polar 3 route through Russian airspace on 10 August, with a Boeing 747-400. The route is expected to cut up to 1h off the airline's Detroit-Beijing flight and allow up to 2.7t more payload. Sabena will increase daily flights from Brussels to Hanover in October from three to five, and to Hamburg from four to six in November. The airline is also increasing frequencies to Berlin, Athens and Milan. British Airways is to suspend its daily Pittsburgh-London service this winter, arguing that the addition of transatlantic services and capacity by competing airlines have made the route uneconomical. US Airways is pressing the US Government for permission to take over the route immediately. Kitty Hawk has won the US Postal Service's Western Network Hub (W-NET) six-year contract for mail delivery in the western USA, worth more than $264 million.
