MAS boosts partnerships

Malaysia Airlines has firmed up plans with Northwest Airlines for a long-awaited codesharing agreement that will take MAS closer to the Northwest/KLM alliance. The two signed a memorandum of understanding for the tie-up last February and seek governmental approval for the strategic partnership to take effect from January. MAS has also unveiled a codeshare agreement with THY-Turkish Airlines on both carriers' services between Kuala Lumpur and Istanbul. The agreement covers twice-weekly flights by each carrier, and took effect in September.

Polynesian-Qantas ties grow

Polynesian Airlines and Qantas Airways have confirmed an April memorandum of understanding for codesharing on Polynesian-operated services between Samoa and Australia. The agreement takes effect in November, covering seven services each week between Sydney/Melbourne and Apia, via either Wellington or Auckland.
