American Airlines and Turkish Airlines have signed a codesharing agreement, with implementation pending negotiation of a US-Turkey open-skies agreement. Northwest Airlines, KLM and Alitalia are to launch reciprocal codeshare flights to 42 cities worldwide from the beginning of April. Vanguard Airlines will discontinue services to Cincinnati on 2 March, after only 11 months of operation, citing a disappointing response from the market to its low fares. UK cargo carrier Atlantic Airlines has been contracted to fly parcels for Air Littoral Express every weekday night between Marseilles and Paris Charles de Gaulle. Midway Airlines is petitioning for slots at New York LaGuardia, where it leases slots from a competitor, so that it can maintain and expand services to its Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, hub. British Airways' low-fare carrier Go will begin flights from London Stansted to Naples in April, and to Reykjavik from the end of May. Northwest Airlines is to codeshare on American Eagle Saab 340B services between Los Angeles and seven destinations in California, beginning on 18 March. Canada 3000 Airlines has been designated by the Canadian Government as a scheduled carrier to serve the UK and Germany. The airline has also applied to serve India, and new routes planned for this summer include Toronto/Vancouver to Brisbane; and Vancouver to Berlin. Air New Zealand has announced changes to its schedules during the Sydney Olympics between 9 September and 5 October, which include an additional 57 one-way flights between Los Angeles and Sydney. As a result, it is expected that some North Atlantic flights between Los Angeles and Frankfurt and London will be cancelled. Capacity on its trans-Tasman sea routes will also increase, with the use of Boeing 747s on peak days, in place of Boeing 767s.
