The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) has narrowed its choice of new attack helicopter to the Boeing AH-64D Apache, Denel CSH-2 Rooivalk and Eurocopter Tiger.

Singapore seems determined to press on with an attack helicopter programme, despite neighbouring Malaysia deferring any decision on its planned procurement to at least 1999/2000. The unofficial shortlist effectively rules out the Mil Mi-28 and Kamov Ka-50.

The final selection is expected to come down to the AH-64D or Tiger. Singapore is continuing to seek US Government assurances that it will release the Lockheed Martin Longbow millimetre wave radar, but has not yet officially requested supply of the system.
