The rotary-wing industry will be keeping a close watch on Asian Aerospace '98 this week as the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) continues to weigh up the options for its future attack helicopter needs.

Four contenders are vying for the contract, with the RSAF conducting an on-going evaluation of the Boeing AH-64D Longbow Apache, the Denel CSH-2 Rooivalk, the Eurocopter Tiger and the Mil Mi-28 Havoc.

Decision

The RSAF has given no firm indication of when a final decision will be taken, but it could be as early as the middle of the year.

The requirement is believed to be for up to 30 aircraft.

Boeing's AH-64D will be taking to the skies above the airshow during the daily flying displays, giving its potential buyers a close-up look at the next-generation version of the combat-proven AH-64A Apache.
