Russia will provide China with "appropriate" technological assistance in its drive to launch a manned spacecraft in 2002. It is also to provide Japan with windtunnel testing for its Hope unmanned spaceplane and has begun negotiations with Brazil for joint programmes in Earth observation and telecommunications.
