Lockheed Martin has delivered the first Atlas III booster to launch pad 36B at Cape Canaveral, Florida in preparation for the launch of Telstar 7 in mid-June by International Launch Services. The Atlas IIIA model is powered by the Russian RD-180engine developed with Pratt & Whitney. An uprated Atlas Atlas IIIB is also planned. Lockheed Martin's US Air Force Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle fleet will also be based on the Atlas III.
