The Russian Government, recently issued a special order promising state support for home-grown civil-aircraft programmes. This will include Government guarantees, beginning from 1997, for domestic and foreign investors providing finances for Tupolev Tu-204, Tu-214 and Tu-330 development and series production. The finance ministry has been ordered to provide investment loans in 1996-8 to Aviastar, Perm Motors and Tupolev, via taxation privileges. This investment will come from funds allocated to aid conversion of the defence industry to civil applications.
