Russian missile maker Spetzteknika is expecting a decision in the next few days on a follow-on contract with McDonnell Douglas over the two companies' missile test agreement.

Sergey Yakovlev, director general and chief designer of Zvezda-Strela missile designers, says it will be "two or three days" before a decision with McDonnell Douglas is reached. He stresses that any agreement would then have to be submitted to the Russian government for approval.

Yakovlev says discussions are also taking place with Hughes at the Show but these discussions are still at an early stage. Guennadii Gortchitsa, deputy general director of Spetzeknika, the association which represents Zvezda and other missile firms, says it is also holding discussions with Matra-BAe Dynamics over collaboration over short and medium-range air-to-air missiles.
