Russia's interstate aviation committee MAK has certificated the interior configuration for the VIP variant of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 regional jet.
"Our company is now engaged in the activities aimed to introduce the Sukhoi Superjet 100 business version. [It] will meet not only the highest requirements for comfort but also serve the demand for long nonstop flights which is increasingly evident in the changing business aviation market," says Ilia Tarasenko, president of Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, which is 25% owned by Italy's Alenia Aermacchi.
"The certification achieved on the enhanced comfort interior is another milestone in the planned development of the SSJ100 business version."
The SSJ100's VIP interior is configured to carry 19 passengers in a cabin divided into several sections, including areas for relaxation and meetings.
Sukhoi based the interior submitted for certification on the requirements of its launch customer, the Russian government, which has ordered a single example of the PowerJet SaM146-engined twinjet.
