Irkut's second Sukhoi Su-30SM multirole combat aircraft performed its flight debut from the company's Irkutsk production site on 25 September - just four days after its first example had taken to the air.
Drawn from a 30-aircraft order signed in March 2012, the latest example completed a 1h 40min test flight, which Irkut says passed "flawlessly".
As with the 21 September debut of aircraft 01, the second fighter was crewed by Sukhoi test pilot Sergey Kostin and test navigator Pavel Malovechko.
Moscow's Su-30SM order forms part of its State Armaments Programme for the period until 2020. Other ongoing acquisitions include deals to acquire 92 Su-34 long-range strike aircraft and 48 Su-35 fighters for the air force, along with 24 carrier-based RAC MiG-29K/KUB fighter/trainers for the navy.
