Lynton Aircraft Sales, based at Kidlington in Oxford, is claiming to be the first UK operator to have certificated modifications to one of its aircraft in line with new reduced vertical-separation minima (RVSM) regulations imposed by the US Federal Aviation Administration and adopted on trial by the UK on 27 March. Air-data computer and software changes have been made to a Dassault Falcon 900B, allowing the aircraft to be operated in the flight-level band between 33,000ft (10,000m) and 37,000ft, where vertical separation for aircraft has been reduced from 2,000ft to 1,000ft. The rules affect the North Atlantic airspace region. Many aircraft which have been flown at flight levels FL330 to FL370 are now forced to fly outside the band.
