Star Alliance has revealed that South African Airways (SAA) is to join the Lufthansa/United Airlines-led grouping, with a formal announcement due at Star's next chief executive board meeting in June. "We are always interested in adding airlines...which already have long-standing and successful relationships with our member carriers," says Star chief executive Jaan Albrecht. Although the airline has codeshares with all the three main alliances, the greater number are with Star members.
