Saab Training Systems has won two contracts from Westland Helicopters to supply laser weapon simulators for the AgustaWestland WAH-64 Apache attack helicopter and a target weapons effects system for the Westland Lynx AH7 helicopter. The Swedish company says the contract is worth SKr135 million ($15.8 million), with deliveries to begin in 2004. The development of the dual laser unit for the Apache and the integration of the Lynx target system are joint efforts between Saab Training Systems and Westland, and expand the capability of the UK's Apache Collective Training System.
