Saab has received a double confidence booster from Australia for its Saab 340 after the completion of two extended lease deals.

Kendall Airlines, operating in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney, has extended the lease of two of its 16 Saab 340s for a further six years, while Hazleton Airlines, the largest independent regional operator in Australia, has extended the lease on two of its eight 340s also for six years.

The Hazleton deal follows hard on the heels of an agreement last year to extend leases on three other Saab 340s, and a ninth 340 will be added to its fleet in March, taking advantage of market opportunities created by deregulation in the New South Wales state.

"Both of these deals reflect continued confidence in the aircraft from two well-established and long-term Saab 340 operators," says Peter Greensmith, Saab Aircraft Leasing vice-president Sales and Marketing.

"We are very pleased with this additional business as it further consolidates Saab's dominant position in the 30 to 40-seat market in the Australasian region."
