Rockwell Collins Flight Dynamics (Hall 4-H4) is showing how its planned Surface Guidance System (SGS) will provide additional safety to aircraft moving on the ground. The Flight Dynamics SGS is an extension of other head-up guidance functions, including command guidance for low visibility take-off, landing and roll-out. Flight Dynamics is working with Jeppesen Sanderson and Smiths Industries Aerospace to develop SGS, which would be integrated with the aircraft's flight management system and its navigation database to display ground guidance, standard taxi paths, runways, taxiways and terminal facilities.

When fully developed, the system will benefit from other evolving technologies, including differential GPS.
