Iraqi Airways has suspended two pilots who engaged in a mid-flight brawl, and warned that they face a substantial punishment.
While the flag-carrier has not specified the details – simply stating that the pilots “fought in the air” – it says that the ministry of transport has opened an investigation.
“They have already been ordered to stop flying,” it says, adding that the pilots face “harsh” sanctions.
Iraqi Airways says it is interested in transparency over the situation in order to protect its reputation.
It has not confirmed the circumstances of the incident, but local reports indicate that the encounter took place on a Boeing 737.
