The National Transportation Safety Board has recovered the cockpit voice recorder from the Atlas Air Boeing 767-300ER Freighter that crashed southeast of Houston on 23 February.
The safety investigatory agency announced the news on Twitter, saying it is sending the recorder to an NTSB laboratory in Washington, DC for analysis.
The agency has not commented about the cockpit data recorder.
The Atlas 767 was operating flight 3591, an Amazon Prime Air-branded flight from Miami to Houston, when it crashed while approaching Houston.
The aircraft went down into Trinity Bay about 26nm (48km) southeast of Houston George Bush Intercontinental airport, investigators said.
Three people died in the crash: captain Ricky Blakely, first officer Conrad Jules Aska and Sean Archuleta, a pilot for regional carrier Mesa Airlines, according to Atlas Air's pilots' union.
