Passengers and a pilot were injured on 5 March during a runway overrun in Maine involving a CommutAir Embraer ERJ-145 that was operating as United Express.
The aircraft took off from United's hub at Newark Liberty airport at 09:23 and landed at 11:43 at Presque Isle. Cleveland-based CommutAir posted a statement on Twitter that the aircraft “slid to the right of the runway” during landing. One pilot and three passengers “sustained minor injuries and are being attended by emergency personnel,” the airline states of the flight that carried 28 passengers and three crew.
The US Federal Aviation Administration in a statement confirms that the ERJ-145 “veered off the runway onto the grass at Northern Maine Regional Airport at Presque Isle” and says “the FAA will investigate."
Cirium data and analytics show that the ERJ-145 operating the flight was registered N14171. The aircraft was built in 2004 and has been operated by CommutAir since 2016, Cirium's Fleets Analyzer shows.
Photos posted by local website Crown of Maine show the ERJ-145 on its belly in snow, with the landing gear bent upwards towards the aircraft's engine. The nose of the aircraft also sustained damage.

United owns a 40% stake in CommutAir. The regional airline offers 150 daily flights on routes to the US Midwest and northeast US from United's hubs at Washington Dulles and Newark.
