The European Commission (EC) has approved the joint acquisition of French carrier AOM by SAirGroup and French holding company Marine-Wendel (which will have a 51% stake). The EC says the activities of AOM and other SAir carriers are "largely complementary", with most of the former's business limited to France, where Swissair "has not been offering significant services". It adds that although there is an overlap on the Zurich-Paris route, the transaction will "not alter the market structure in a way that would affect the two main competitors - Swissair and Air France".
