Emirates will lease two Boeing 777-300 aircraft from Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise (SALE), it was revealed at Farnborough yesterday.

The 10-year lease is for SALE's first two brand new Boeing 777-300s.

Emirates chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum was on hand for the announcement made at Boeing's stand.

Satisfaction

"Our decision to increase the Boeing 777 fleet size is indicative of our satisfaction with the performance of this aircraft, which is being used to serve more than 20 cities across our network," he says.

SALE will lease the aircraft to Emirates in November and December 1999, immediately on taking delivery of them from Boeing.

The aircraft will be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 892 engines, the world's most powerful certificated engines.

The aircraft are the first of six Boeing 777s that SALE has on order.
