Not far from Le Bourget is Aulnay-sous-Bois, a small French town languishing in anonymity. It's not the sort of place one would visit unless on a mission.

After a tiring day at Le Bourget, the challenge of finding a good restaurant can be too daunting for all but the most famished.

Which is why, even if you have your pick of Paris eateries, this little town's Restaurant La Douelle is a shining beacon of gastronomic delight and most definitely worth a visit.

Aulnay is only 15 minutes' drive down the A3 en route for the city, and you can find the restaurant just off the centreville.

A comprehensive wine list offers a selection for every palette and purse plus flavours which perfectly complement the food. Try the Chablis and Burgundy.

Choose from three set menus: Grande Douelle for Ff158, comprising entree, main course and dessert; Petite Douelle, Ff125, main course with entree or dessert; and Douelle Express, Ff88, your choice of a single course.

Menu highlights include a superb duck foie gras (foie gras de canard frais maison et sa gelée fine) and tarragon chicken with a deliciously, creamy sauce (poulet a l'estragon et vinaigre) or lamb noisettes with a gourmet salad (mitonnée d'agneau et noisettes en salade gourmande) - tender and beautifully cooked.

Sublime desserts - and there are many - feature mousses and refreshing fruit concoctions plus a speciality from a village in the South of France - brulee aux noix.

Warm hospitality, charming service and tasteful decor mean I'm going back yet again. When you have a moment, I strongly suggest you pay a visit. Bon appetit!
