As bird flu spreads around the globe, a new Asian Aerospace exhibitor has launched a protective suit that could play a key role in disease prevention.
Primera is a lightweight breathable coverall suit for a vast range of applications from chemical handling to food processing. Impermeable to chemicals, blood or virus, the non-woven fabric protective suits have been used by safety professionals to prevent contamination in recent operations to eradicate avian flu in Asia.
Designed and manufactured by San Miguel Woven Products (formerly Guolene) from Malaysia, the suit is one of two products being showcased at stand D110. The other is Enviro-tuff liner (ETL), a new protective material that keeps ammunition, food or drink cool when it is transported.
A fully woven reflective material prevents heat penetrating or escaping the liner, so it is used as lining for shipping containers, or to wrap individual shipments of products sensitive to temperature change like explosives, wine or chocolate.
Director of marketing, Michael Ong, says: “When you ship ammunition across continents, the temperature can rise by as much as 60°C [140°], so products like TNT will melt. This material allows you to keep the temperature stable, so it could certainly be used in the aviation and aerospace industries.”
