SAS Group is expecting to receive its first Airbus A320neo in September, the initial aircraft in a batch of 30.
The company confirmed its target as a test airframe conducted its first operation to Scandinavia, landing at Stockholm Arlanda on 26 April.
SAS Group environmental director Lars Andersen Resare says the type will cut fuel costs by up to 15% on routes where it replaces Scandinavian Airlines A320s.
Chief financial officer Goran Jansson says the re-engined type is a “big and important step” in the modernisation and harmonising of its fleet.
SAS Group has selected the CFM International Leap-1A powerplant for the A320neo.
