The profits recovery at SAS, continued through the first quarter, largely because of the end of exchange-rate losses which ravaged the 1994 results. Although overall passenger traffic was up by 7%, cost also rose and yields remained flat, with much of the growth coming from the back of the cabin. Economy traffic grew by 8%, against 4% in business class. Pre-tax profit rose to SKr182 million ($27 million) from SKr31 million a year ago.
