Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has taken delivery of the first of seven Airbus A340-300s it has on order. The 261-seaters form part of a major fleet expansion programme, which also includes four Rolls-Royce Trent-powered A330-300s and 12 International Aero Engines V2500-powered A321s. The first aircraft will initially operate between Copenhagen, Denmark, and Delhi in India. The addition of the A330/A340 fleet on its on medium- and long-haul flights, which are currently served by Boeing 767s, will increase SAS' seat capacity by 50% and cargo capacity by 40%.
