SAS Technical Services is to relocate its main aircraft maintenance base to Stockholm Arlanda airport in Sweden, ceasing medium-heavy maintenance operations at its Copenhagen and Oslo bases.
SAS Group says the move, along with the establishment of SAS Technical Services' support and management functions at Arlanda, are a part of structural changes that will reduce costs by SKr500 million ($63 million).
The three bases will continue to provide daily maintenance, and Oslo Gardermoen will continue to carry out heavy maintenance. SAS is planning to reduce its workforce by 922 as a result of the changes. SAS Technical Services will retain about 2,700 employees in the three countries.
