Scandinavian Airlines is to fit its short-haul fleet with new lightweight seats supplied by German seat manufacturer Recaro in order to improve passenger comfort and supply additional leg room.

During 2012 a total of 1,484 seats will be refitted on eight of SAS' Boeing 737-800 aircraft with further refits to be made the following year.

The first 737-800 to be fitted with the new seats will enter re-service in May 2012.
