Paris-based space consultants Euroconsult sees major growth in demand for communications satellites to 2009. Based on a requirement for 1,827 transponders, the market will require 213 satellites worth $23.6 billion, 101 of which are under contract. The agency sees deliveries falling between 2002 and 2005, with a rebound to 2009. This year, 42 orders and letters of intent have been placed.
