Satellite plans

India is planning to develop two advanced remote-sensing satellites, called the CartoSat 1 and the ResourceSat 1, costing a total of $120 million, to be launched on the national Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle. The country is also planning an astronomical space observatory carrying ultra-violet, infra-red, X-ray and gamma-ray instruments.
