The Royal Saudi Naval Force has signed an agreement with US company FLIR Systems for the supply of up to 80 AAQ-22 SAFIRE forward- looking infra-red thermal-imaging systems for its Eurocopter Super Puma helicopters and for naval patrol craft. The foreign-military-sales contract is initially worth $700,000, although if the Saudi Arabians were to exercise all purchase options, the total value would be more than $48 million.
