Saudi Arabia's civil aviation administration has confirmed that six companies are pursuing licences to operate as national air carriers as part of the drive to liberalise air transport in the kingdom. The six are low-fare start-up Sama business and corporate transport specialist National Air Services travel group Al-Tayar the Al-Mamlaka company - operating as Burj Airlines Petrogal, on behalf of Al-Watan Airlines and the Saudi Ikhwan trading company.
