A new framework to support skills and training for the aerospace industry is to be set up by the Society of British Aerospace Companies (SBAC).

It aims to give aerospace organisations the chance to work together to develop their own training and skills training framework.

A key part of this process will be the staging of a national workshop at the Rolls-Royce Learning and Development Centre in Derby on 10 and 11 November. That will bring together the leaders in skills and development for the aerospace industry across a range of high-profile organisations from each of the regions.

The focus of the event will be to encourage the development of skills and training groups that will be placed under the umbrella of each regional aerospace association. These groups will then form the basis for a series of further activities and events enabling people in each region to provide on-going support to skills development in their area.

They will aim to provide a skills delivery programme to improve commitment to training at every level in every company in the industry.

The workshop will give attendees an opportunity to meet colleagues from across the industry and the country.
