Your article about the newly formed European Pilot Institute (Flight International, 29 April-5 May) does nothing to inform your readership of the successful effort by UK training schools in implementing the JAR ATPL theory syllabus.

The JAR requirements are not "new" and the term "standardised training" is meaningless other than to imply nominal compliance with the Joint Aviation Authorities learning objectives.

State-of-the-art JAA theoretical training has been available for at least two years and UK schools lead the way in assisting their European counterparts. More importantly, it has been done without burdening the European tax payer.
