Initial reports indicate at least 73 dead out of 98 passengers and 14 crew aboard this Indonesian military Lockheed C-130 that crashed in east Java on 20 May. At least five people on the ground were also killed. Local reports quoting the Indonesian military say the aircraft was preparing to land at Iswahyudi airbase in Magetan regency about 160km (85nm) from Yogyakarta. The aircraft, registration A-1325, crashed into a paddy field and low-rise brick buildings next to a forest and came to rest upside down. The main fuselage was gutted by fire.
