The second suborbital flight of the HyShot scramjet is set for late July. The University of Queensland-led mission will be launched aboard a Terrier Orion sounding rocket from the Woomera rocket range in the Australian outback.
The scramjet's payload will be carried to an altitude of 350km (220 miles).
During the high-speed descent into the atmosphere, it will be operated at up to Mach 7.6 between 35km and 23km before crashing into the ground 370km downrange.
The first HyShot flight failed on 30 October, 2001, when the Orion second stage did not carry the payload to the correct altitude or reach the required speed.
