Asean Air of Malaysia has acquired a 40% stake in the privately owned Indonesian regional carrier Sempati Air Transport. The deal reportedly increases the airline's capitalisation to 200 billion rupiah ($85.5 million), from 50 billion rupiah, and provides for the purchase of new, longer-range aircraft. The airline plans to float a further 15-20% on the Jakarta stock exchange later this year.
