Serck Aviation has signed a five-year contract, worth in excess of $3 million, with Snecma Services to overhaul and repair its range of heat exchangers used on the CFM 56 series of engines. Serck provides a 15-day turnaround to the Snecma Services plant at St Quentin near Paris. With its sister company, Stewart Warner South Wind (SWSW), it provides all three heat exchangers for the PW 6000 engine. Engine and unit certification are now almost complete.

During the development phase, rapid prototyping techniques enabled Serck Aviation to produce a working model of a new design of a fuel-cooled oil cooler to meet urgent delivery requirements in less than 18 weeks.

Design

Serck's nimonic 718 buffer air cooler design, first developed for the PW 4000 series, has high operating temperature capability, essential to meet the demands of newer engines.

Stewart Warner will be supplying the supplementary air-cooled oil-cooler for the engine.

Dunlop Precision Rubber, Europe's leading manufacturer of elastomeric aerospace seals, will be showing sealing systems for both airframes and engines. Among the highlights of the stand (E2, Hall 6) will be a suite of seals for the P&W 6000, an innovative door seal and the 737NG nacelle/engine firewall seals.

Advanced

Other leading-edge technologies available from Dunlop Precision include a range of advanced conductive materials for sealing against electromagnetic and radio frequency interference up to 18GHz with attenuation to 100dB. The company's standard seal range comprises more than 300 different sections, including fire and vapour barriers, differential pressure and inflatable designs.
