SEXTANT AVIONIQUE is developing a high-resolution liquid-crystal multi-function display unit for helicopters, as part of the Avionique Nouvelle (AN) series suite of new-generation helicopter avionics it has designed in partnership with SFIM Industries. The SMD45H flight-control display system is due to be certificated in early 1997, says Paris, France-based Sextant. Also offered is the vehicle and engine-management display (VEMD), a dual liquid-crystal display panel, which replaces up to 12 conventional dial instruments. The VEMD has been tested on the Eurocopter EC120, and is expected, to be certificated by the end of 1996.
