China’s Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Factory (SAMF) has become the latest qualified supplier to Airbus with the delivery today of its first A320-family aircraft cargo door frame.
Airbus says in a statement that SAMF delivered its first A320-family aircraft cargo door frame ship-set today. The company is one of six Chinese manufacturers now involved in making parts for Airbus, which in addition to working with Chinese parts manufacturers is setting up a joint-venture A320-family production line in China.

The European manufacturer says that in February 2006 it signed a contract with China National Aero-Technology Import and Export and SAMF covering the manufacture of single-aisle aircraft cargo door frames in Shanghai.
It was the first work package Airbus allocated to Shanghai-based SAMF. It values the contract at around $16 million and says SAMF plans to deliver 22 cargo door frames this year, increasing to 12 units per month next year.
