The improvement in China's levels of air safety was rewarded in Paris last night through the recognition of Shen Yuankang as the Aerospace Personality of the Year.

Shen, vice-minister of the General Administration of civil Aviation of China, is one of the senior regulators who has played a key part over the past three years in ending the spiralling rate of airliner crashes in China.

Ans as Shen was named by Flight International's Editor-in-Chief, Allan Winn, as the Personality of the Year at a glittering awards ceremony at Montparnasse, hundreds of industry leaders and professionals showed their approval of the choice.
